Escape from Zircon!

Friday, September 29th, 2006

Yesterday we went to Discovery Place here in Charlotte. It’s like the Science Museum in London if anyone has ever been. Anyways, the building was split up into different exhibits, mainly being about, the body, physics and such, illusions, a rainforest area, and the main part being all about Movies! The movie part was a featured exhibit which is going around the country, whereas everything else is pretty much standard. The ‘normal’ stuff though was pretty good - some piccies in the gallery of course!

The movie part had costumes and props from alot of films, such as Pirates of the Carribean, Star Wars, ET, I,robot, Titanic, Indiana Jones to name a few. Pics below, and more in the gallery of everything from there!

But no! It wasn’t over just yet… we could also pay a little extra to make and appear in our own ‘movie’. So, we did, along with a family. There were a few sets and we basically were all given mini acting parts in each to tell a story… watch it below!

Car Show

Sunday, September 17th, 2006

Today we went to a car show at the NASCAR track here in Charlotte. We would have missed it if we hadn’t of seen an advert on TV about it the night before, and so our quick decision was to go to it!

The NASCAR speedway itself (where it was being held) was huge, with a few cars on show near the entrance, but most either down on the track itself or in the center of the track where the pit stop is and such. We ended up walking the entire way around the track looking at cars - there were loads! Way too many to take a photo of each without running out of battery especially when I forgot to take my spare. A few of the photos I took are below of the cars;

Also there were life size show cars for the recent Disney Pixar movie ‘Cars’, which were in a building in the center of the track;

And, to my delight a TV Show was being recorded! For the American ‘Speed Channel’, there was a main stage where they were filming 2 cars at a time for a car show to apparently be aired in January 2007. A few pics are below;

In the end it was a good day out, even contending being out in the heat for 5 hours with no shade! I also took an astonishing 285 photos, way too many to upload onto my site, but a selection of what I thought were some of the best can be found at the gallery by clicking here. Or from clicking any of the pictures above.

Half Man. Half Amazing.

Monday, September 11th, 2006

Yesterday (Sunday) we went along to an American Football game in downtown Charlotte at the Bank of America Stadium. The Carolina Panthers were against the Atlanta Falcons. Even though the game ended up with the Carolina Panthers loosing in what could simply be called a rubbish game by them, the whole experience was great. The stadium itself was huge, and even though we were at a top corner section, the view was still pretty good, and the atmosphere from the supporters was great, with the Falcon supporters chanting at the Panther fans all the time… with one calling one of thier players ‘half man. half amazing!’ at the top of his voice, which was pretty amazing in itself!

At half time we also saw the biggest flag I have ever seen in my life! It covered the entire pitch to commemorate 9/11 which anniversary followed the next day (today). When each of the top Panther players entered at the start as well was quite a sight, with flames shooting up and mini firework type things…

Some photos below are from what I took on the day, there are more in the gallery. From left to right, TV News truck, Player Entrance, the BIG flag!

  > New Site

As you may have noticed, the site has changed its look. Its a bit more modern now than before, and in my view more professional than before. There’s now pages dedicated for each video and website (some website pages still need to be completed) which I have made and more bits and bobs, so go explore! For all you in the know and who care, I made the site fully using CSS, while making it XHTML 1.0 valid - the first time I have done so on my own after taking the plunge into valid webpages after I was forced to change! Ahem! Hehe.

Well I guess thats that. I keep thinking to myself that I’m missing something out here, and I’ll probably realise later and kick myself, but hey, until next time…

My Crazy Dream

Thursday, September 7th, 2006

OK, it was a couple nights ago, but I still remember part of it vividly. For whatever reason I’m back at school (Westlands that is), but obviously it doesn’t look like Westlands but some big castle or something, as buildings and such always look completely different in dreams - even though - I knew - its was Westlands… anyway, I was there with my mates, and Mrs T organising some sort of party or something, anyway, for whatever reason I suddenly have to go feed my cats. Now, I don’t have any idea why they were at school, but hey, I went and picked up thier food bowl, put food in it, but when I put it back down I squased one of my cats… The reason is because for whatever reason I was dreaming that my cats were like spiders, the size of spiders and everything, andso when I put the bowl back down, I accidently put it onto of one and squased it… yea…

 So that was my amazing crazy dream. Other than that I’m here surviving through what would seem to be an insect bite every hour… well.. not that much, but I do keep geting bit everyday by a couple! Damn them! But, everything is going fine, the majority of our lectures are ok, one may be slightly of concern though, but it looks like we’ll just have to wait and see how it goes…

This weekend we’re all going to the mall on Friday, a Car show thing at the uni on Saturday and then an American Football game on Sunday! So, theres no rest for the wicked!

As promised I’ve put some pictures up in the gallery, click on each folder to see other pics, then click on each pic to see a larger version! I’ll keep putting more up as I take them!

It melted…

Friday, September 1st, 2006

Well, it didn’t really melt, but its as good as. My video camera has broken for yet another time, this time down to heat! Yep, according to the Sony help guy himself, he stated that my camera (along with a long list of others) was made with a fault with the CCD system thingy… basically the part which makes the image show on the screen… and how even though its unlikely for them to break, apparently the problem can become more accelerated in hot and humid conditions… and due to the stupidly humid weather we have here, its safe to say it caused it!

 Just got back from the local supermarket in a taxi, and well it wasn’t the bestest experience ever… with our taxi driver being sick out the door… enough said… lets just say I’ve washed my hands 3 times already since being back…

 Um, I guess this was just a short little update - I have a webcam now too folks! So you can see me (for whatever strange reason you have) on MSN Messenger…

 Till next time! Byeee!
