Gumball Rally - 2007

Sunday, April 29th, 2007

Today I went into London to see this year’s Gumball 3000 Rally, this time again starting in London, then off too Asia and back again. The cars were all lined up along Pall Mall for most of the day while a whole heap of people were spectating.

So, for a good few hours we wondered around taking photos of the cars in thier starting line up battling people through the crowds to get decent shots, seeing all the drivers and models along with press and crew doing thier stuff!

The race was due to begin at 4pm, so just before we made our way to a part of the course with a whole bunch of other people to get some shots of them all heading off! To my complete surprise, Jay Kay from the group Jamiroquai waved and pointed at me, from his car! I failed to get a photo out of sheer amazement, however Myles ‘kinda’ did, which I have stolen from him and are below (I was just to the right of Myles!)…

I took a whole bunch of photos which have been uploaded to the gallery which you can see by clicking here.

Offline for a while

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

A quick blog just to inform you that my laptop died for good on Sunday, and I’m in the process of ordering a new one. I’ll write about it properly once all is sorted, but for the mean time until my new laptop gets delivered (could be a week or so if not a little longer), I’ll be offline to an extent, ie. not on MSN and such.

I’ll still be checking my emails daily, thanks to Myles, so you can still get in touch with me through that, or on my mobile!

So, toodles for now, more news soon hopefully!

Cats

Saturday, April 14th, 2007

Thursday night I was treated with being able to watch the musical Cats on tour at the Princess Theatre in Torquay. Now if anyone is due to see it, and doesn’t know the story, well, I’ll be mentioning some of the plot and spoilers below so - you have be warned.

It was a pretty good show, lasting around three hours (including interval break), with a whole bunch of people dancing and running around dressed as cats! The show mainly goes along introducing various cat’s and thier personalities. From posh snobby cats to lively cats, they’re all pretty much shown! The main story though is of an old, somewhat frail moggy cat who recollects on her life, and what once was, while she continuingly tries to become accepted into the big gang of cats who exclude her, even though she continues to have hope that tomorrow will bring a new day, and another chance. The musical ends on somewhat of a sad tone, when finally she gets accepted into the group, but alas, it’s too little too late and she dies chasing her final dream to be accepted.

It was interesting to compare the different cat personalities with real person personalities, such as that old cat really is that strange weird old woman who know one talks too roaming the streets, and the lively and snobby cats are just like people too. Makes you think which personality you and you’re friends are!

The cats also use the walkways around the audience to run up and down and ‘interact’ with the audience; I was one of these said audience members, with one of the cats grooming me and rubbing up and down me, which was embarrassing! Overall it was a good night, and a good show, it’s been a while since I had been to a performance and it was a nice change from the norm!

My Moo Cards Arrived!

Friday, April 13th, 2007

In a mangled large envelope which looked like the postman had given the package to his dog to play with before posting it to me, my Moo Cards arrived this morning - much to me excitement! Thankfully, the cards are in a hard plastic box which itself is fine, and has kept all the cards all safe and well!

Some turned out better than others, but overall I’m pleased with them.

Hopefully I can put them to good use! First come first served folks!…

SOS - Save One Show Results

Friday, April 13th, 2007

It’s Friday 13th, and for some shows and for some fans, this really is not going to be a good day! I can tell you are all eager with anticipation to find out who won the SOS poll. This year the top two shows will be given support to be brought back, so in theory, the shows in both first and second place have won.

Results (Position/Name/Votes) (Top Five Also: TV Network & Link);

1. Gilmore Girls: 2.2 million (CW)
2. Veronica Mars: 1.9 million (CW)
3. One Tree Hill: 950,802 (CW)
4. Supernatural: 413,014 (CW)
5. Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip: 120,312 (NBC)
6. Crossing Jordan: 30,552
7. Friday Night Lights: 23,195 (six more scripts have been ordered)
8. How I Met Your Mother: 21,761

15. Close to Home: 2,433
16. Six Degrees: 1,711
17. The Nine: 1,126

As you can see the CW fans were out in force, with four of the top five shows being from the CW network. Now, what this says about what will happen to the shows which didn’t make it - is anyone’s guess, but it’s still TV bubble time in the states, and within the next few weeks we will know exactly who the real winners and losers were this year. Hopefully my favourite Studio 60 will survive! Hopefully…

Moo Cards

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

This evening I took the liberty of ordering 100, yes, 100 Moo Cards! Now, at this moment in time you must be thinking I’m crazy and what on earth are Moo Cards!?! Well, after being informed by my co-worker Myles, about a blog photographer Thomas Hawk made a while back about him ordering some Moo Cards, I was intriguied!

Moo Cards are mini business type cards, which can feature your own photos on the back of them, in full colour, for only £10 for a pack of 100 (all of which can have a seperate individual photo!)

Well, after pain stakingly choosing ten different photos (so I would have ten of each), and then making them look decent on the back of the cards, I wrote my information in and ordered them! So, in 10 working days apparently I should be the proud owner of 100 Mini Moo Cards, hopefully all looking as good in real life as I think they did on my computer screen! We’ll see…

Six Degrees anyone?

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007

Six people, six lives, all living in New York City. Strangers, who through coincidence and chance - or - is it fate? - meet each other throughout thier everyday lives, and how they effect each other. It sounds pretty intriguing to me atleast, but not so it would have seemed to ABC in America.

It was pulled early on from thier schedules over in the states due to low ratings - but importantly not cancelled, just placed on a hiatus for a while. Well, two weeks ago it finally returned, sadly with little advertising and fan fair - but, with the promise and hopes of new cast members to join to hopefully make it more successful.

Well, last night I was pondering whether to post about me being at a location in NYC last year where they had filmed a scene - and showing pictures to show where it had happened, but alas, the gods at ABC have spoken, and after two weeks and only two episodes to give the show another try, Six Degrees is sadly no more.

Now, this maybe little news to folk in the UK, where the show has still yet to premiere on ITV1, but this does now even affect whether it will even be shown on ITV1. ABC only aired in total eight episodes, now granted they would have filmed more, how many more remains to be seen - a TV show can only be sold to other networks abroad if it has a minimum of 13 episodes in a season.

So, for now, its just yet another waiting game for the show, if 13 or more episodes were made, we’ll have to wait until they air on an ITV channel (I doubt it will any longer be ITV1, due to the show’s cancellation, but it’s a good show for ITV2) If not, the remaining episodes will most likely be shown online on abc.com - but, whether or not international viewers will ever get the chance to be able to see them, is another matter entirely.

All in all, it’s safe to say it’s gone from ABC for good, and thus no point in voting for it in the SOS poll! A quick update on that; and apparently the leader is moving away from the pack, however the show in 3rd place is rapidly moving up towards 2nd!
