Today was the day of The Great River Race along the River Thames, which sees rowers from far and wide row 22 miles from Greenwich in East London, to Richmond in the West.
As with the previous years, NPL‘s own Physical Wrecks rowing team was there with 2 male boats and 1 female boat to show everyone how it’s done! I was there along the way to get photo’s of the start and finish of their race!
Congratulations to all 3 boats and everyone rowing them as it must have been a very tiring journey!
Update: 7 Sept ’09 The times of the boats were;
Mens A boat – 2hr 23 (The mens A boat won 2 classes)
Mens B boat – 2hrs 42
Ladies boat – 2hrs 46

Yesterday was the Location & Timing KTN’s ‘Informed Traveller‘ event, which saw the likes of Microsoft, Google and Samsung take to the stage at NPL to discuss all things map-related on mobile devices.
During the event I set up a plasma screen and helped promote the use of Twitter during the talks by the attendees, which proved to be a success with a group of Tweople messaging all day! At first we used Twisouri Desktop to display the tweets on a mac, but due to a lack of customisation (even with the paid version), we ended up using visibletweets.com later in the afternoon to use on the screen which had the added benefit of showing the time and username of each Tweet!

Yesterday was the A1GP at Brands Hatch in Kent, and after conflicting weather reports all week, the day turned out dry and relatively sunny. On top of that the day was made that little bit better by having passes to the pit lane and paddock, allowing us to mingle with the teams and crew and have amazing trackside views of the track. All in all it was a good day and here are some photos from the day, more can be found in the gallery.
